Jim began his career in 1970 with the San Diego Police
Department. Since 1974 he has been employed with the California Department of Justice and involved with the most complex homicide investigations. As a member of the
Crime Investigation Response Team for the Department of Justice he further developed his skills in major crime investigation and in the management of inter-jurisdictional cases involving multiple crime scenes.
After over 25 years of field investigations, Jim was given the responsibilty of training crime lab personnel throughout the state of California through the
California Criminalistics Institute, a unit of the California Department of Justice. In this capacity he develops and presents courses to lead the
scientist into the world of police investigations. Starting with the chemist, biologist or biochemist and giving them an understanding of the real world
of crime investigation is not an easy task. It is a responsibility that Jim accepts with a smile and confidence that comes from over 30 years of experience as a scientist applying technology, common sense and
objectivity to the investigation of crimes of every magnitude.
